Team Alberta North Accepting Mission Staff Applications 

Team Alberta North is seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals to participate as Mission Staff for the 2016 Arctic Winter Games being held March 5-12, 2016 in Nuuk, Greenland.  The Arctic Winter Games are a biennial celebration of sport and culture involving Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Alberta North, Nunavik (Northern Quebec), Greenland, Russia and the Sami of Northern Scandinavia.

The Mission Staff has a key role as members of Team Alberta North acting as a liaison between individual sports and all components of the Arctic Winter Games organizational structure.  Up to 8 Mission Staff members representing a blend of volunteers and professional staff from a wide cross section of the sport and recreation community in northern Alberta (Mission Staff must reside north of the 55th parallel) will be selected.  Mission Staff members are volunteers who do not receive payment for their services or compensation for time off work.  Meals, accommodation and transportation to and from the Games will be provided.  Mission Staff are required to attend all mission meetings and must be available for the duration of the Games.  A brief overview of specific qualifications and responsibilities is enclosed along with the application form. 

Applications including a resume and a letter of support must be received by Friday, April 17, 2015.

Strong Performance by Team Alberta at the 2015 Canada Winter Games!

Prince George, BC - Team Alberta was impressive at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, earning 75 medals, finishing fourth overall.

“I want to congratulate all our young athletes, coaches and mission staff on their outstanding performance at the Canada Winter Games,” said Maureen Kubinec, Minister of Culture and Tourism, responsible for sport in Alberta. The success of our athletes is a culmination of their passion, fantastic coaches, outstanding facilities and amazing community support. I am so proud of Team Alberta’s accomplishments.”

Team Alberta captured 14 gold, 25 silver and 36 bronze medals at the Games and many of our athletes achieved personal bests.
