Team Alberta Gets Ready for Canada Winter Games

Edmonton... Team Alberta, including athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff, who will represent Alberta at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC, February13 – March 1, 2015, gathered in Sherwood Park on Saturday, January 17 to receive uniforms, meet their Flag Bearer, have official photos taken and to receive important information on what they can expect at the upcoming Games.

"Congratulations to the young athletes, coaches and staff whose hard work and dedication led to their selection to represent our province at the Canada Games,” said Maureen Kubinec, Minister of Culture and Tourism. “Albertans are very proud of all their athletes, coaches, volunteers and supportive fans who help our province remain a leader when it comes to the pursuit of excellence in sport and a more active Alberta.”

This talented team of Alberta’s best is comprised of 245 athletes competing in 19 sports. They will be supported by 73 coaches and managers, along with 19 mission staff. Flag bearer for Team Alberta at the 2015 Canada Winter Games is Zak Madell from Okotoks, a member of the Wheelchair Basketball team.

Red Deer to host in 2019!!

Team Alberta is excited to be the host contingent for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.  The Canada Games Council was announced that the City of Red Deer was the successful bid to host the 2019 Canada Games.  This will mark the 3rd time that Alberta has hosted Canada's premier multi sport Games.  Red Deer will now put together their organizational committee over the next few months with plans to attend the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC in February.

Congratulations Red Deer!  We look forward to our home field advantage in 2019!
